How to use Google URL Shortener

google-url-shortenerI Just figured it out!!!

Although it was launched 2 months back but I always thought it is based on invitation basis and only for selected silicon valley’s Geeks, but today I figured out that everybody can use it, the only catch is that for the time being it is bundled with Google product only (Google Chrome/Feedburner/Google Toolbar)

I don’t use Google toolbar as it is only available for Internet Explorer and Firefox. So for me best way to use Google URL Shortener is to use it with Chrome.

For that you need Google Chrome and Chrome Extensions, Once you install Chrome extension for Google URL Shortener, you can create Goo.gl short URLs with a simple click.

Google Chrome Operating System by 2010…Cool

google-chrome-os-logo

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010.

Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work

Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips and we are working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to market next year. The software architecture is simple — Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel.

How to insert image in your mail : try Gmail

Finally gmail arrived with an option to insert your image inside your main mail body before that I got to do that with Outlook express or incredimail.

Well, it’s about time. You no longer have to use workarounds to put images into your messages or attach images when you really want to inline them. Just turn on “Inserting images” from the Labs tab under Settings, and you’ll see a new toolbar icon like this:

Make sure you’re in rich formatting mode, or it won’t show up. Click the little image icon, and you can insert images in two ways: by uploading image files from your computer or providing image URLs.

Gmail themes simply amazing

The new integral themes of Gmail are simply amazing, I’m still trying them and so far all of them are too good, specially the logos and pictures used, some of them are extended versions of Orkut theme like Bus stop theme and Tea house. so far i liked tree and Zoozimps.

“ these photos taken around our office in Zurich, Switzerland, themes have made their way into more than our inboxes — that’s a character from the ninja theme made out of pixel blocks, customized laptop decals, and a giant Zoozimps character on a beam next to my desk - Annie Chan

7 ways to find out what people are searching for – Top search keywords

Yes again 7 ways, seven seems to be my luck no. like of Enrique Iglesias. Yesterday one of my post hit with more than hundred thousand visits which was quite surprising for me because I never knew that hundred thousands of people out there are searching for that particular keyword. So I tried to find what exactly people are looking for.

1) Google ZeitgeistI came across with Google Zeitgeist which tells about Search patterns, trends, and surprises, What people are searching for at Google and it’s a specialty services in a different of categories. Also there are search pattern versions for different countries.

“Search statistics are automatically generated based on the billions of searches conducted on Google. With some help from humans, and a pigeon or two when they have time, these statistics and trends make their way from the depths of Google’s hard drives to become the Google Zeitgeist findings.” – Google Zeitgeist

It shows cumulative snapshot of interesting queries people are asking – over time, within country domains, and on Google.com
