UltraSurf for Ubuntu Linux and Mac
Yesterday I installed Ubuntu Linux OS, everything went smooth, it hardly takes few minutes to install Ubuntu. Later I installed Wine to run Windows apps (Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API on top of X and Unix). First I tried to run UltraSurf cause without it I can’t even able to breathe coz our network pipeline is so much choked with firewalls and censorship I can’t even check my mails on Gmail.
So here is easy steps to run Ultrasurf in Ubuntu and Mac
Ultrasurf for Ubuntu Linux OS
1. Install Wine
2. Download the necessary dll files
mfc42.dll
msvcp60.dll
Note: you can easily find them by Googling but when I downloaded from a site and used them it showed following error:
“The ordinal 6880 could not be located in the dynamic link library MFC42.DLL”
so my suggestions is to copy them from your windows operating system from file location ->C://windows/System
3. Copy the two dll files to
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32
Note: if you go to file system and type ~/.wine at location bar then your hidden wine folder will get open then you can find above folders for pasting your necessary dll files.
4. Now run latest Ultrasurf and make sure settings like following screen shots.
Note: Goto options-enable Do not use IE option, set your networks proxy setting and then exit
5. Goto system-preferences-Network Proxy, Change your system proxy address to 127.0.0.1 and port to 9666
6. Now run Ultrasurf once again and enjoy the freedom
Note: while running Ultrasurf in Ubuntu it takes sometime cause it process through wine, just have little patience if it ain’t run.
Ultrasurf for Mac OSx
Just install the wine for Mac version and follow the above steps.
Good news Ultrasurf is much faster in Ubuntu than windows.

Doesn’t work in Mac OSX. I keep getting iphlpapi:getInterfaceStatsByName unimplemented! error.
Any ideas?

i tried it on MAC OSX Snow leopard with wine 1.1.32 , it doesent work.
like you said the message is:
“The ordinal 6880 could not be located in the dynamic link library MFC42.DLL”, and i arent able to solve the problem.
any tips, any idea??

i can run it and it says succesfully connected but it dosent works i mean i cant go to websites that are filtered plz help

Hii,
I tried the new Ubuntu OS its amazing
But I have a big problem I am using a 64 bit processor
hence I cannot install “wine” as well as I cannot find proper link to download it
Can you please help me suggesting any other alternatives also I am facing the same problem for Utorrent however I managed it using Transmission

I did all mentioned above: copied the libs, launched the app, but still the UltraSurf won’t start at all. Am I missing any libs or wine configs? I use Wine 1.1.31, and tried with USF v95 and v98. Sould I add the libs in Wine config as well?

u see ppl, WINDOWS is THE BEST OS ,cuz u have a whole lota software in it. even if u guys move to other OSs, u cant run off frm using win softwareZ!!!!!!!!!

We have our reasons y we don’t wanna use windows, things like virus for instance and if u like it then that’s good for u but for software we have choice to use whatever is in our disposal unlike u, u r stuck in windows world but we can move freely. Last whatever u say wont change our perspective (stereotype!!!)…
