7 best tools to circumvent internet censorship
So, Finally here is much awaited post that everybody asked for ever since I posted on this topic, I’ve found seven best ways to circumvent censorship currently working apart from various proxy sites whose life span is like of fly. I’ll try to be very brief cause if i’m going to explain each of them then it’ll become my longest post of my life and also 1st four tools are more or less uses same technique as last three shares some similarities. I’m also providing download links some of them are directly from their main sites and some of them are alternative download links.
1) GPass
GPass wraps the network traffic of your Internet applications in various formats and tunnels the wrapped packets through various dynamic channels to its servers. The GPass servers unwrap the packets and forward them to their destination on your behalf, yet they hide your identity (i.e., IP address). (Source Main Site)
GPass is free for personal use within selected countries where unjust Internet jamming is prevalent.

2) Free Gate
FreeGate is a software utility that enables Chinese and Iranian surfers to view websites banned by their government. Freegate has 200,000 users, Dynamic Internet Technology (DIT), its developer, estimates.
How freegate works

5) Psiphon
Researchers at University of Toronto introduced a software tool on Friday, December 1, 2006 that aims to help people in countries that censor the World Wide Web. Psiphon (pronounced sigh-fawn), a web-based utility, lets individuals in a country that censors the internet sign on to a server that gives them secure access to web pages anywhere, bypassing government restrictions.(Source Main Site)

6) Freenet

Well, I found Tor and Psiphon a lil complicated to use but other four tools are really great tool in breakthrough to circumvent gowing internet censorship.
Update[13.02.2008] – Wow this list is getting hot coz someone has digged it on digg.com and another guy BURIED it with claim of Duplicate content. but i didn’t knew it was a duplicate one as long as i didn’t went through the link that he has provided with following info

Thanks for sharing. But for the sake of simplicity I find it easier to use proxy sites such as http://www.proxy4china.com to browse blocked sites, when needed.

Hi, I tried to download Gtunnel & Gpass but while executing my Antiviirus Avast detected tojans in both files. the details are follows :
Win32:Delf-IHC [Trj]” has been found in “C:\Users\Nisanth\Desktop\GTunnel.zip\GTunnel.exe” file.
and
“Win32:Delf-IMK [Trj]” has been found in “C:\Users\Nisanth\AppData\Roaming\GPass\scap.dll” file.
is it safe to use it…..

While our tools (GPass/GTunnel/Freegate/Ultra Surf/FirePheonix) helped users in closed societies to access censored information on the Internet freely, the authorities in some places (like China) found a way to block us through anti-virus scanners. They just reported our software as virus or mal-ware. Some of these anti-virus companies are not responsible enough in their classification. It seems they just labeled our software as backdoor if enough people reported us that way.
In the past, we interacted with some of these anti-virus companies (including Symantec and Kaspersky), and upon close examination of our software, they reverted their signature database. But there are too many anti-virus companies for us to deal with now to clear all the record.
We are sorry for the inconvenience. But GPass/GTunnel/Freegate/Ultra Surf/FirePheonix are definitely not virus or backdoor. However, please download them from our official websites or reputable download sites such as download.com or Tucows.com, and check the digital signatures before running. In the past, in China, some evil guys added virus to our software and emailed it to many users. Please be alert and do not just run any file you download before varifying the signature or source.

Yeah i just need a list of any Programs and/or ways that i need to get on blocked websites at school please? I use my computer at home for the websites i need to do my work and study but it would be so much easyer if i knew how to do so at school and dont have to wait to get home. and i have ultrsurf but going through tool, internet option, connection and so on dousnt work! Hi,
I’ve been using UltraSurf for quite some time until recently I started facing problem in accessing some sites that were working fine before.
Now for certain sites, the default (Chinese Page of UltrSurf) is displayed. Is any one else also facing the same problem?
Is there any solution to this problem?

Hi I am in a LAN and i am unable to use Gpass! its not launching the application (browser)even though the path is rite and is not able to find gpass servers.I gave a manual input of my LAN settings but its not able to find.Can i add a GPASS server if that is there please tell me any gpass servers (i mean the green ie is not glowin) Any help will be appreciated.

hi i am in oman. macafee software is installed on my pc by our edp incharge. and when i am trying to download the ultrasurf its detecting the software and deleting it. what can i do

GTunnel is flagged as a virus by Avast. I can work around that, but GTunnel and GPass simply don’t work well. Their servers are too slow to be useful. If web pages even start to load, they rarely finish.
Freegate was the best till recently. But since January 2009 it is no longer available to anyone outside China.
Ultrasurf works well, but its servers block some sites. (“The requested URL is not supported.”)

Good post, but censorship come from the ISPs. Then if your ISP is watching you going to a proxy then the break your internet conecction. Then, when you call them, they say that the problem is your computer “The conecction is working fine”. That´s how this work

our company are blocking sites such as facebook, youtube, other social networking sites. We are using ultrasurf before but they have found a way to stop it. we cannot connect to the server anymore using ultrasurf. pls help. thanks
