Some Useful tips:I’ve heard one thing many times that Ultra Surf is slowing down net speed or Ultra Surf is not working or something like that but after so many experience of Q&A and personal experience i’ve found that it’s not the Ultra Surf but it’s the net connection that has problemo…..
- Check your net connection remember that it needs certain level of net speed to run Ultra Surf smoothly.
- check proxy settings of Ultra Surf, when u download fresh version u need to tweak proxy settings of Ultra Surf. do that manually, also sometimes proxy setting of Ultra Surf get vanished automatically.. do check for proxy setting and feed it manually. For any kind of browser Proxy IP address is 127.0.0.1 with port :9666 and For Ultra Surf it depends upon your network.
- 8.8 is the latest one and it is the best coz when there is no net connectivity it automatically flashes a message…. it won’t hang u there for retry
- also last tip is that when net slows down or ain’t working at all, just exit Ultra Surf and re start it. instead of retry.. try exit and re start it…trust me retry is bad idea. just restart the whole thing.
[Update:10.08.2007] If you are using browser other than IE, then you have to manually change your proxy IP address to 127.0.0.1 with port :9666 of Firefox browser.
[Update:02.02.2008] For Mac Users, change your proxy IP address to 127.0.0.1 with port :9666 of Safari browser.
[Update: 17.04.2008] By stasik : “Solution for those u can not download it at office: after work go to internet cafe, download the soft and send it urself to ur mail. Next day at work open the mail save the soft and use it. There is no need to uninstall in case u dont need it. Just delete the u.exe file and thats all. (How come u can not download it at work from site provided but will be able to download from ur email?????)”

This software is great. But I have 2 problems.
1. The proxy id you gave for Firefox does not work. Is there an updated one? Can I get this id from the regular updates that gets done in UltraSurf for IE
2. When Ultrasurf opens at home, IE hangs (the chinese page does not show up). Have you seen this happen before?
The Freg: Well thats the local host IP address of your comp. u need to manually feed proxy ip of http -127.0.0.1 port – 9666 in case of Firefox or any other browser

I just want to say, on behalf of Randallstown high school in Randallstown, Maryland, USA, that the student have greatly enjoyed and appreciated the Ultrasurf technology. Many a dirty youtube video was watched, and more often than not mp3′s had the heck downloaded offa them.
Unfortunately, the BCPS people have in fact auto-closed it, even auto deleted it from any foreign devices such a flash drives or usb things(I should know, it happened to me and a couple friends).

I have a hi speed connection, but ultra surf as I said it is connecting but it can’t open any site. I really can’t crack this problem. I wish you can send it to me along with a set of proxies to try (coz maybe the proxy im using now is not working anymore).

I will do try to set proxy manually, and yes you are right the problem is not the US is the net connex.
In countries (as the one i live currently Iran) that ban access to certain sites and u only need proxy-tunnel software, we face this all the time…
Another last question:
Do you think that maybe due to a huge use latelly by hundreds of thousends of U.S. users, our local internet provider/server found a way to short-of “block” the surfing?
because the US connects to its server normally but the problem is that then this chinese site that normally pops up cannot get accessed & also u dont have any browsing…

it is better to download and install hotspot sheild. i live in qatar, here most of the websites banned. Later I found this in web and downloaded thsi hotsopt sheild. It will open all the banned sites of the world. enjoy it. this is available on net for free.

I ve been using ultrasurf since the time a friend sent the exe file to me. But i have noticed a problem that whenever i try to download some video file clicking on its thumbnail, the homepage that loads with the prog pops up and no download happens.

Hi… One important thing has come to notice:
The bad news is:
The network people have disabled the running of the exe file of ultrasurf itself from the computers. They have done this by some sort of signature identification of the of the exe.
But the good news is:
They have done so which is version specific. So if they have disabled the execute permission of version 8.8, you can still run the version 8.5.
Just wish that somebody makes all the versions available for downloading, just in case….

the soft works great. i am using it at office,where most of the sites are banned.this soft is faster in comparison to other soft (gpass,etc). but the story is that every 15 min i have to put pass for the network, so i have to close UltraSoft, open IE, put pass, open UltraSurf. a great comodity would be to store the username and pass in order to reconect automaticly another comodity would be the posibility tu run IE both through UltraSurf and just norman IE, coz some services in my office are not accessable from internet as they are local. but appart from thats, its the best soft out there. thank you

Solution for those u can not download it at office:
after work go to internet caffee, download the soft and send it urself to ur mail. Next day at work open the mail save the soft and use it. There is no need to uninstall in case u dont need it. Just delete the u.exe file and thats all.
(How come u can not download it at work from site provided but will be able to download from ur email?????)

how to run: download the exe file and after download double click on the u.exe and it will start the application.to stop application just pres EXIT. to delete just delete the u.exe file. is the same usage as a picture (double click – open, exit -exit, del -delete)

Well I did download version 8.9 right from here a few days back, problem is my PC had to go for a reformatting…symantec antivirus scan found 212 instances of infection by Trojan.Vundo & 3 instances Trojan.cmdow ever since running ultra surf.
Also was getting unnecessary web pages being opened up, yes porn inclusive. I never had faced any of the aboce problems with earlier versions of ultra surf.
So a word of caution to users, please check before you use it. I still greatly love using ultra surf, only thing is i will have to wait for a solution.

UltraSurf works with any application supporting proxy, including Firefox!
for Firefox to use ultrasurf:
go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> Settings -> select Manual proxy configuration -> set proxy: 127.0.0.1 and port: 966. and thats all!!!
the same step can be applied for any other application supporting proxy. same pages/downloads can not be done, but its very rare. well, its still better then nothing!!!
to uninstal: just delete the u.exe from ur pc and thats all.no need to uninstall as u did not install it!!!!! just delete,as picture
sorry for the typo, the port should be 9666 (not 966).
and obviously the internet should be slower as it is re diverted, but still faster than any other soft out there.+ all the traffic is encrypted, so no one will be able to read ur traffic!!!!

Hey .. I’ve been having this issue with UltraSurf. Whenever i start my explorer, without starting Ultrasurf .. it doesnt connect to the internet .. it tells me page cannot be displayed .. only when i connect ultrasurf .. and say close ultrasurf and keep IE open, it works ..

[ Stealth ] -the story is that using the soft it sets the required proxy needed to connect IE to net.while running Ultrasurf go to Options -> Proxy Settings and write down the proxy which is there.close everything. open IE. it should not work now (as u mentioned). go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connection -> Lan Settings and put the proxy setting u wrote from UltraSurf.SAVE. Now u should not have any problems again.

[ kiruba_jkl] ultrasurf dont have this option to write username/password. i hope in next version this will be added,as i’d benefit from this too. what i do, and u could do, open Internet Explorer and type any address (i.e. google.com). it will ask for user/pass. put them.now u can start ultrasurf as it uses cach from IE.make sure it set proxy automatically. i also have to do a refresh in IE every while coz if no request is for 30 min the cash is deleted. hope it helps u)))

WORKAROUND for users with username/password on network!!!!!!!!!
If u r in the same situation like me ( when i open IE/etc for first time, i m asked for user/pass for the network. if i m inactive for 10 min the cache is cleared and when i try to open page pass is asked again. this is not a big problem if u use only IE, but i have to use IE for local services and i use firefox+ultrasurf for external services. and it is pain in the ass when u have to refresh IE every 5 min,as if not refreshed the UltraSurf wont be able to connect to server as it has no option to memorise ur username/pass, and u have to do all from the start…).

So this is what i do:
download vbs file from http://stasiunea.com/soft/IErefresh.vbs . run the file. it will ask for a page to open. type google or other url, the it will ask for refresh interval, type whatever suits ur network 60 second. press ok. now IE will open the page u typed and will refresh it every x second, so ur cache will never expire and ultrasurf will always stay connected.

I have downloaded ultra surf
Ultra surf can bypass web filter that’s right ….but for months i’v being trying so hard to bypass packeteer or packet shaper and the result was failure………i started with earlier versions of it till i reached the 8.9 version and the result is still the same….The IT monitored the ultra surf ports and located them…..ultra surf uses secure HTTP and jumps from port to port so it can not be detected…..but unfortunately in my case it was.So i hope u’ll find the answer to my suffering.

This software is just not working.. when it opens status says “Connecting to server” & then after about 15 secs it says “Failed to connect to server”…. The proxy and port is perfect, dono wat is going wrong.

What’s the catch? Is it really free like the “Tor” network ( http://www.torproject.org/ ) with free open nodes, since I don’t see any viable means of making profit from it as there are no banners and ads like regular proxies..

also just want to mention u9.0 crashed a few times on me, usually when minimize after successful connection to server. never happened to me with 8.9. still, great soft!

Try downloading another copy of Ultrasurf because there is a chance yours is corrupted. If it still does not work then I suggest you download DOTA and use that.

(and how there could be a tracking program or keylogger built into it to monitor web activity and/or steal passwords or other personal information.) yes i had the 8.2 and I downloaded 8.9 but when I try to use it on certain computers it opens the net wizzard or net zip I think thats wut its called saying that the free trial has ended and wants me to buy it NOW!!! What does this mean? Please HELP!!! Also about downloading the program some school and jobs watch downloads so what we do is put it on our stick drives so we can open it up on any account anywhere. XD thats what me and my friends did with the 8.2 version

u8.9 is still the best. newer versions are not as stable. maybe the next ones… ultrasurf is the easiest application used for tunneling, no installation, no configuration.. its the best for noob and it was the best for me when i needed. i was using it at work, so i dint go to porno sites even if i wanted, so it suited me perfectly. also that Chinese crap appears from time to time, but after a few tries it goes through. just to be absolutely safe, every one should use some kind of security. i use gpg to encrypt my emails and other stuff. Especially with the FRA low in Sweden, where the government has the right to read any email, check any traffic, listen to any call.
use encryption, use tunneling and enjoy the freedom and privacy!!))

i have downloaded ultra surf…….ealier it was working very smoothly…….but now mine college has restricted it also……..its not working…….not even ‘your freedom’and other proxy site that translate da URL……..

I am guessing my ultrasurft 9.5 has got corrupted as i did not did a proper exit of the application and logged of my computer.
Whenever i click the u9.5.exe icon it will display an error msg
“u95.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
Is the windows registry file for u9.5 corrupted? If so, where can i find them or what are they called so i can delete them. You help is deeply appreciated!

I tried to use ultrasurf, and given the proxy ip and port to it, but my proxy needs authentication, hence ultrasurf is not able to connect to its servers. is there is any way through?

Every time i download a file i open it the a message come’s up saying “cant open file contact administrator” and i cant use ultra surf so what do i do??

though the latest version has been published i.e 9.95 its easy to block. my network admin has blocked it though i was able to use it till yester day.
paperbus is another alternative but its also banned is there any other way to access the denied sites.

I am working now and here in my company every type of website is accessible but the IT department can trace the website that i’ve been surfing.

jus for the sake of information, One should stop using it when you are downloading smthng(FOR example downloading movie thrgh torrent) coz it affect the speed almost by 75%.

I don’t want to be sent a proxy server but want an additional one to be made.
I used your software and agree that it maybe one of the best proxy servers in the world but the BIGGEST flaw of this company is not offering it to other OSs like MAC OS ,,, I know at least 20 people who have Macs like me but can’t use this great software, I think it is your biggest and main problem.

how to remove “ultra_error” page – this i get when i deleted the app u1016.exe, occurs on some sites – may be of no concern but IE may be restored to default – no page to display etc. I am on win 7 and IE9. Thanx in advance.
